best and least
I want to take a silver walk
Where the ocean touches land.
I want to speak without talk
And touch without holding hands.
I want to feel the sting of salt
And the sweetest air.
I want to give what isn’t bought
To show how much I care.
I hold on to light desperately to stop its crashing fall
Through the broken images of a dropped crystal ball.
I am forever trying to see through my invisible walls.
It seems I know myself the best and yet the least of all.
I want to hold both sides of truth
Without crushing either.
I want to hold the breath of life
And never take a breather.
I want to know what my blood knows
Way down deep inside.
I want to know those blackest holes
And those brightest skies.
I am so close and yet so far
From the land that I call home
I strive to find my ancient star
To know I'm not alone.
To know myself truly is the tallest of the tall
And at the same time the smallest of the small.
Inside me beats the siren’s ever ceaseless call.
It seems I know myself the best and yet the least of all.
