diogenes and alex
A fanciful cat
With a somber rat
Perched upon its shoulder
Looking for a wise man.
(Homo sapien(?),
Dollar short and two days older.
Man suits for a while
Says the cheshire's smile
Though his deeds be mostly evil
But I've only nine lives….
And there's too many knives
Man's like cotton and a Boll weevil.
"Who gave the name?
Who takes the blame?"
Says the prickly porcupine?
A man called "no man"
Hourglass in one hand
And in the other a lance of pine.
"No man", says the cyclops
As truth drops,
Did make me raving blind.
"Well of course",
Says Mr. Ed the horse,
"You couldn't repay in kind".
"What do you expect?"
Says the derelict
With two broken left shoes.
Midnight the cat
Says, "Well how about that
And neither one can I use".
"Grade A, prime choice",
Says a voice
From behind a can. (says Diogenes)
"Diogenes,
If you please,
Say what it is that is man". (says the Throng)
"To do that
You either need a cat,
One that sees you whole,
Or a wise man
In a garbage can
With a beard and a soul." (says Diogenes)
Alex the blade
Drivin' the shade
Comes into the scene.
With one question, no more,
Through a sunny door
And with his shading machine.
Seeking the wise man
Sees Diogenes near a can
And says, "I've sought and I have found.
You're enjoying the sun
Most and then some.
Simply sitting on the ground." (says Alexander the Great)
Alex the blade
Carrying the shade
Goes down on one knee.
Says, "I'll do for you
What you want me too
Whatever your wish might be."
And Diogenes,
(Not saying please)
Says, "Could you move away your shade?"
I'm enjoying the sun
Most and then some.
And could you also get rid of your blade?"
But without trust
There is a must
In this made up make believe
And with Alex's thrust
Diogenes enters dust
Finding his relieve.
Alex the blade
Still carrying shade
Says unto the throng,
"It was not my intent
That he be went
He needed not to be gone."
But they called him most wise
And that is lies
For I alone am that wise man".
My blade speaks truth
To aged and youth
Now we wait the sacred plan." (says Alexandaer the Great)
So time did pass
Both slow and fast
And fortunes rose and fell
And tunes were played
And plans were made
And with open arms waited hell.
And tongues were spoke
And the devil had his joke
And he created Latin,
"Wise man indeed
What better deed
Than to call him Homo sapien." (says the Devil)
"For man does conquer
All him and her
(Man says, "Man be so wise")
But it is lies
Driven by implies
Exchanged for truth says I." (says the Devil)
A horse and cats and a porcupine
Have looked upon it all
With steady eyes they've studied wise
After the predicted fall
And concluded by ivory extruded
The ease that some taste truth,
That humans alone of all that roam
Have the hubris of a wisdom tooth.
