fast food rerstaurant
I'm pulled by something --I don’t know what
As I stumble into a fast food restaurant.
Look at a picture of a sesame seed bun
Think about the forces that drive me to come.
Counter man stops in the middle of his hum
Says, “We got a big selection, take the time you need son.”
I say, “I can’t think as fast as the food that you make.”
Man says, “How about starting with a vanilla shake
It'll tide you over till you choose what to take.
It takes time to avoid a mistake.”
I say, “Thank you kindly but I wonder,
If you have something with a little more color.”
Man says,” Close your eyes and you’ll see in this game,
Everything we have tastes just about the same.”
I say, “I want a solid
And I want a fluid.”
Man says, “Ok, that’s just the way we do it.
He says, "You got to pay over there.”
So that’s what I do
Before I continue to stare
At that cloud high picture of a sesame seed bun.
Still thinking about the forces that drive me to come.
Back there they're waiting for the sound of my car.
I'm driving like hell t' see just how far
The devil can take me to get where you are.
I'm fueled on heart-bustin' calories
Being chased by my mind's hungry furies.
I still don't have what I want
As I realize I'm still in that fast food restaurant.
