great attractor
A horse left its calling card on the path where I always walk.
It’s also the path where nature and me always have our little talks.
And covering that calling card were delicate amber colored flies.
I’d never seen that kind before and they tipped their hats to me as I walked on by.
I didn’t expect them to do that but what puzzled me even more
Is how they knew to be exactly where the calling card hit the floor.
It seems like things that have never been together end up holding hands
Acting like they’ve never been apart since time first walked these ancient lands.
There must be a great attractor that fills all of space
And on cue it says, “Everybody, quick, take your rightful place.”
You can make a small pond way out in a desert where the air is dust dry
If you close your eyes for one second when you look there will be a dragonfly.
And if you look up to the heavens trying to hear the answer from god
When you look back down again you’ll be hearing the croaking of a frog.
I’m not talking about a dragon or a disguised prince that come from a magic wand.
I’m talking about an insect and an amphibian blowing smoke rings in a desert pond.
It seems like things can find each other and then end up holding hands
Acting like they’ve never been apart since time first walked these ancient lands.
There must be a great attractor that fills all of space
And on cue it says, “Everybody, quick, take your rightful place.”
And so love of my life when you’re all alone at an outdoor café
Don’t be surprised when you hear a horse’s neigh.
And don’t be surprised when water comes in a delicate amber colored glass
Or when a princess chases an escaped frog as a dragonfly flies past.
That empty chair at your table was always filled by me.
We knew in our hearts that it was always meant to be.
We were meant to be together like gold sun and blue sky.
We were meant to give each other love’s wings so we both could fly.
So we could fly to the place and the time exactly as it was planned.
It seems like things that have never been together end up holding hands
Acting like they’ve never been apart since time first walked these ancient lands.
There must be a great attractor that fills all of space
And on cue it says, “Everybody, quick, take your rightful place.”
