loop de loop
Things bend back on themselves
In a way that time reveals.
I’d like to meet the impish elf
Who is manning all those wheels.
I’d like to take him for a drink
To the Empty Destiny Bar.
Where the boys sit and think
On handing out some scars.
I’d like to take him for a walk
Way outside of town.
Where the boys stand and talk
On handing out a comedown.
I once kicked in a door.
Stomped it into the ground.
"You're nothing now", I swore,
"Except in this and every town."
You are never alone
No matter how far you get.
You always find you’re back home
Every time you forget to forget.
We’re all in the carny sideshow.
We all tie ourselves in knots.
No matter where we go,
We remember what we forgot.
The engine is heading west.
The caboose is going east.
You're freight stays in your chest.
You can’t pay off that lease.
I’m eating lots of salads
Trying to get that door off my back.
I’m living in a palace
In the middle of a one-room shack.
Things bend back on themselves
Through the mirror of time.
I got to watch out for that impish elf.
Swears he's a friend of mine.
You are never alone
No matter how far you get.
You always find you’re back home
Every time you trip on forget.
