Judge is looking at his script, not at me.
I’m in the big house making thirty-five cents a day.
This house ain’t big enough, no matter what they say.

Rolling off my press as I do three to five.
Far away leaves falling off a tree.
I’ll hear them one day when I’m free.
I got a double, he’s the spitting image of me.
When something needs doing, we become three.
A deep frost hit, they’re bringing in the sheaves.
There’s a roar in the forest, the sound of dropping leaves.
A waterfall of leaves, you aren’t free till you’ve heard that sound.
Just like thieves, who are only free when you are not around.
Are those trees now free of those leaves?
Is my double also in trouble?
And what about when work needs to be done,
Is my triple really the one?
I ain't got the answers, I just want to be free.
I got three to five years still left in me.
So maybe in three or maybe in five,
I’ll know what it feels like to be alive.
I’ll go to that forest when I’m not around.
So I can hear what it sounds like when leaves hit the ground.
