superlative blues (talking graveyard blues)
Old habits they die hard.
New habits they die harder.
A rash deed dies the hardest.
A rash deed can be the smartest.
Potatoes, peas, steak and kidney pie.
Don’t like peas so I eat them last,
Cause you don't know when you're gonna die.
Been doing that since I was five,
Couldn’t break that habit even if I try.
Plane’s overbooked.
They say, “Well now, take a look
At the next one.
We’ll pay good money; you can have some fun,
If you’ll take that one.”
But it’s my habit to stay put.
And it’s my habit to carry a rabbit’s foot.
Won’t even think of giving it a try.
A rich man can easily die
In that next plane
Going down in flames.
I don’t judge a man by the clothes he wears.
I don’t judge a man by the cut of his hair.
These habits, well, they never got me anywhere.
I ask myself if it’s true that I don’t really care.
Saw an alligator drag a woman into a pond.
Crossed my mind that woman was surely gone.
Jumped in and smashed that gator on the snout.
I dragged that gal all the way clear out.
You know that gal she became my wife.
In the end she took my life.
Old habits they die hard.
New habits they die harder.
A rash deed dies the hardest.
A rash deed can be the smartest
