Sweet and lonely as darnel
She said , “I love you.
You’re sweet as darnel."
I said, “I love you,”
Figured what the hell.
She said “I hate you.
And that as well."
I said, “I hate you,”
Figured what the hell.
She filled her hand
With a den of vipers.
I filled my hand
With a web of spiders.
She threw letters
They spelled, “catch.”
I threw letters
They spelled, “match”.
All the rest blew away.
That was some wind
We had that day.
Some days are bad
And some are good.
We both prayed
Neither had misunderstood.
She took her mouth
Threw away its smile
I found it
How it did beguile.
She’s lookin’ for me.
I’m lookin’ for her.
‘Bout the same as things were
Before love an’ hate split the air
And blew us to everywhere
It’s possible to be
Except simultaneously.
Arrogance will kill ya,
Every time,
She tried t’ smile
But had lost its rhyme.
