time has skipped this place

Well time blew in all pensive saying, “I’m feeling a little lost

Maybe you can tell me where I can find the boss”.

“The boss,” we said, surprised that this had come to pass,

“Ok, we’ll tell you, but we thought you’d never ask”.

We checked the book but we couldn’t find that one simple fact.

So we faked it and said,

“Just snap you fingers, it’s as easy to do as that.”

“As easy as snapping fingers?” says time with a sly grin,

“Well now boys, I think friction

Is about ready to rub me up a win”.

And how much do you think friction would be worth

On the surface of a frictionless earth?

“Well taking it at face value, you could name your price,”

Says the makeup artist who’s trying to hold on to

A surface like ice.

And we sit there laughing cause time has skipped this place.

Even the makeup artist can’t put wrinkles on his  own face.

Cows are standing guard, nighttime covered wagon style

Somewhere hamburgers keep dropping into Tower of Babel piles.

And one cow looks at a frozen sun then down at her lovely calf

And smiling to her innermost secrets starts in to laugh.

And we sit there laughing too cause time has skipped this place.

The starting gun has fired but no one’s going to win this race.

Wind is starting to get nighttime sweats, better call the vet.

It thought that covering the pyramids was a sure-fire bet.

It thought that just breathing on a pyramid in a sea of sand

Would be enough to end up with nothing but a sea of sand.

And the sphinx looks at its riddle and remembering Moses’ staff

Smiles at both of them before breaking out into a laugh.

And we sit there laughing too cause time has skipped this place.

Most likely by this time it’s somewhere in outer space.

There’s those that bring dishonesty to the seat of power,

Smiling and smiling they are thieves with flowers.

Then there’s those that bring truth to that fortress tower.

But this time no one’s laughing cause time has found this place

And stopping long enough bestows a crown of grace.
